A Tale of Two Cities: A Comparison of Air Pollution Governance in the Los Angeles Area of the USA and the Bejing-Tianjin-Hebei Area of China

The conference proceedings combine contributions from speakers from science and practice to the conference “Direct effects of UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – implementation and application of the SDGs in practice – status and perspective” on May 23, 2018 in the Haus der Wissenschaften in Braunschweig. In light of the resolution “Transforming our world: the 2030 Global Agenda for Sustainable Development” adopted by the United Nations on September 25, 2015, the authors examine the question of how the economic, social and ecological dimension of sustainability can be scientifically recorded, especially from a legal perspective, and transformed into practice. Further emphasis will be placed in the areas of sustainable banking, the sustainability strategy of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Global Compact.
